Local woman raises £5,000 for Turkey and Syria

A local woman has set up a Just Giving page to raise funds for those in Turkey and Syria affected by recent devastating earthquakes.

Christine Mills - who lives on Island - says she's raising money to buy supplies such as blankets, baby formula, nappies and warm clothes.

Turkey is a place close to Christine's heart, her mother Lynda has a property there and Christine grew up going to visit the country from the age of 13.

Originally wanting to raise £500, that target has been smashed - with £5,000 raised so far.
