Local carpool karaoke efforts 'tarnished'

Students and teachers at St Ninian's High School who took part in a Christmas themed karaoke video have had their efforts 'tarnished'.

That's the message from the organising committee behind the festive 'carpool karaoke' style sketch.

The video - created by the St Ninian's High School Extravaganza 2016 team - was published on Friday last week to mark the school breaking up for Christmas.

It featured sixth form students and teachers driving around the Island singing to a festive pop hit.

However the committee says after advice from the Department of Education and Children it's removed the video from the public domain.

It's after commentators on social media criticised the message it was sending out saying it was promoting bad driving and is 'insensitive' towards people involved in car accidents.

The committee has taken to Facebook to refute the allegations saying participants were driving safely - it also says St Ninian's has had the 'worst share of tragedies involving car accidents'.

It says it's 'very sad' that the 'hours upon hours' of effort had been ruined by a few people posting 'abusive and upsetting' comments online.
