Living wage submissions to be made to committee

The Manx Labour Party says it's only fair that workers on the Isle of Man should receive a fair wage set at a 'common decency threshold'.

The party has welcomed the Chief Minister's confirmation that government will be looking at introducing a living wage.

The MLP says the voluntary living wage in the UK has proved to be a great success and is the next 'logical step'.

It says scaremongering from UK employers has proved to be 'unfounded' and the introduction of the rate is a 'progressive and positive' measure.

This week chairman David Cretney will speak to the Minimum Wage Committee where he says he'll set out the reasons why an increase is desired.
