Searches for missing livestock will continue today as farmers begin to count the cost of the heavy snowfall at the weekend.
Since Saturday hundreds of local people have been volunteering their services in the hunt for ewes and lambs - some of which have been caught up in drifts of 12 feet.
Despite some lucky survivors hundreds of animals have been killed - which comes at great expense to the farmers.
