A man was yesterday handed a life sentence after attacking a prison officer whilst on remand at the Isle of Man prison.
Steven Eric Galloway carried out the serious, premeditated and unprovoked attack whilst an officer was carrying out a routine duty.
Galloway used makeshift weapons and it's said to be very fortunate the officer did not sustain serious injuries.
Prison Governor Alison Gomme said 'whilst acknowledging that we have to work with some dangerous people, thankfully events of this nature at the Isle of Man prison are extremely rare'
