Fire crews spent 3 ½ hours dealing with a blaze at Snugborough Trading Estate last night.
A fire broke out at unit 43 at 6:15PM at the waste processing facility on the estate.
A substantial amount of smoke was drifting over the local area and residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed.
The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service said it was the first time crews had used Twitter to issue such a warning.
