Landfill site at Point of Ayre showing little sign of erosion

Coastal erosion around a landfill site in the north of the Island is being monitored 'carefully' and any problems will be investigated as a 'matter of priority'.

That's according to the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture which says it's using aerial photographs to compare how the coastline is changing around Wright's Tip East.

The majority of the shoreline at the Point of Ayre site has remained static with no 'discernible' erosion between 2001 and 2013.

A risk assessment has also found impact on the facility will be unlikely within the next 100 to 200 years and because of that potential for reputational or environmental damage is 'extremely low'.
