Lack of skilled aerospace workers on Island

A lack of skilled workers on the Island has meant engineering and aerospace work is being outsourced too different locations.

Economic Development Minister, John Shimmin was answering a question in the House of Keys yesterday when he made the revelation.

The Engineering and Aerospace sectors are suffering from skill shortages due to their forecast in growth, and an ageing workforce.

Minister Shimmin said his department are currently working closely with the private sector to identify areas where skill shortages could prevent the Island achieving its objectives of continuing economic growth.
