Jersey Treasury Minister Commends Island for Securing RHA Reprieve
Jersey Treasury Minister, Senator Phillip Ozouf has been speaking to 3FM about the similar situation both Jersey and the Isle of Man found themselves in when the UK initially ended the Reciprocal Health Agreement.
He said the reprieve granted to the Isle of Man gave Jersey the encouragement needed to fight for the future of their own agreement.
As it stands the Island's six month reprieve will expire in September, work has begun to ensure the future of the agreement with the Island's Health Minister recently establishing a dialogue with new UK Minister for Health Andrew Lansley.
Senator Ozouf said the over riding lesson learnt from the Health Agreement is that it’s important for the smaller Island’s to work together in times of crisis.
