We have the most sustainably managed King Scallop Fishery in the British Isles.
The Marine Conservation Society carried out the research with the improved rating appearing in the recent Good Fish Guide.
It follows improvements to the fishery and its management in the last two years.
There have been changes to the type of fishing gear allowed, greater controls on the number of vessels involved, and use of closed and restricted areas to protect scallops and sensitive habitats.
It now sits alongside the Queen Scallop Fishery which was awarded the title of most sustainably managed, wild-capture queenie fishery, in the British isles.
