Island to pay tribute to war dead on Somme centenary

People on the Isle of Man are being urged to honour our war dead and commemorate those who were killed in the First World War. 

Tomorrow marks the centenary of the Battle of the Somme - an overnight vigil will take place at the Royal Chapel of St Johns tonight:  
 
 
The names of the 1261 fallen will be read through the night - the remembrance event will culminate on Friday morning; poppy petals will be sprinkled, wreathes will be laid and the Last Post will sound.
