Investigations continue into tattoo artist's death

An inquest has heard a tattoo artist from Onchan died after being found unconscious in bed by his girlfriend.

David Howarth, who lived on Summerhill Road, was taken to Noble's Hospital for treatment after being discovered on Thursday, December 1st.

He died the next morning in the Intensive Therapy Unit.

At Douglas Courthouse yesterday Coroner of Inquests John Needham heard the 42-year-old had a history of heart problems and had been waiting for valve replacement surgery.

Although no official cause of death was recorded a medical report from Noble's Hospital said Mr Howarth was likely to have died as the result of a head injury.

The hearing was told scans revealed he had a fractured skull and may have died from a brain haemorrhage.

Police investigations are still continuing into Mr Howarth's death - a Home Office pathologist has carried out a post-mortem examination.

Mr Needham released Mr Howarth's body for burial and expressed his condolences to his family.
