Investigation ongoing after blaze at Castletown Fire Station

A substantial fire broke out at Castletown Fire and Ambulance Station yesterday, with two firefighters treated for minor injuries.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service says the alarm sounded shortly after 5pm on Thursday, August 13.

A member of staff found a fire in the main appliance bay, which houses two fire engines.

Nine fire appliances attended, including a turntable ladder and a specialist appliance from the Airport Fire and Rescue, along with police and ambulance crews.

The Chief Fire Officer says the cause of the fire remains under investigation with crews still at the scene.
