Almost 800 people have signed an online petition opposing government plans to allow companies to explore for natural gas off the Island's north coast.
Isle of Man Friends of the Earth says it believes the project would eventually involve fracking under the seabed off the coast of Maughold.
The organisation has set up a change.org petition which opposes the proposals.
