The Treasury Minister will be asked how each of the Steam Packet's ferries would cope in the event of an electric vehicle fire.
The question will come from MHK for Arbory, Casltetown and Malew, Jason Moorhouse in next weeks sitting of the House of Keys.
EV fires are known for posing greater challenges than a standard fire on a ferry, as they are generally more ferocious, harder to extinguish and in some circumstances can cause explosions.
Guidance advises EV users to keep a high-temperature resistant car fire blanket as it can both smother the blaze, and isolate it from spreading to other vehicles.
