Fire crews were called to a house fire in Ramsey on Friday.
The property, on Westbourne Road, was up in flames just before 7PM.
A woman who lived there had tried to put out the blaze. She was checked over by paramedics and treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
The fire was caused by a chip pan.
The fire safety team want to emphasize the importance of having a working smoke alarm fitted in the home.
