Health Minister unveils new Primary Care framework

The Department of Health has announced the creation of a new Primary Care framework.

The framework is intended to decrease pressure on Noble’s Hospital by providing more community-based medical assistance from nurses and GPs, as well as pharmacists and dentists.

Primary Care currently accounts for ninety per cent of the healthcare provided by the Health Service to the Island’s residents.

It is anticipated that the new measures will be phased in gradually so as to minimise disruption to clinics and health services currently offered.

Health Minister David Anderson said the new framework could save money in the long term.
