Two of the Island's green lanes are set to go one way from January 1st.
In an effort to promote the sustainable use of the tracks a section of Packhorse Road in Laxey, and the Old Douglas Road in Maughold, will trial the new system for the first half of 2015.
Traffic will be permitted in a downhill direction with access maintained to properties on Breeze Hill in Laxey and Cooil Veg in Maughold.
The aim is to manage the long term future of the Island's unpaved highways by reducing the chance of erosion.
Signage will be erected early in the new year with the restrictions in place until July 1st.
