The government isn't considering changing the Manx Electric Railway set-up to include an active travel route.
That's according to Infrastructure Minister, Ray Harmer, when quizzed about the matter in the House of Keys this week by Middle MHK Bill Shimmins.
Mr Shimmins had asked what thought had been given to changing the railway to a single-track system and using the extra space to create a walking and cycling route between Douglas and Ramsey.
Mr Harmer said to do so would lower the operations of the MER service and have a negative effect on income, adding any work would also involve 'significant capital cost'.
