Garff Commissioners say they're worried a local brewery is trying to prevent a landmark pub in Onchan from ever reopening again.
At a board meeting last month, the local authority voted to object to Heron and Brearley's proposals to convert the Liverpool Arms into a home.
Part of the plans would see a covenant placed on the building to stop it being used as a pub in future.
The board said it wants the company to consider keeping the pub open.
