A former sports coach has been jailed for indecently assaulting three boys.
Dean Wales from Peel was sentenced yesterday to five years and nine months behind bars.
He pleaded guilty to offences of indecent assault against three boys who were aged sixteen, fifteen and twelve at the time.
He was also charged with making both still and moving indecent images.
The defendant was a sports coach at the time of his offending and used this to build the trust of one of his victims before committing the offences against him.
The 34-year-old used other grooming behaviours, including the provision of alcohol, in relation to the other two victims in order to facilitate his assaults upon them.
Detective Inspector Bobby Syme from the Public Protection Unit said;‘This case should reassure the public that no matter who the individual is or what position they hold or have held, if a sexual complaint is made detectives in the Public Protection Unit will investigate. Then in consultation with the Attorney Generals Chambers prosecute those who cause so much harm and misery to their victims.
If you have been the victim of a sexual assault please have the confidence to come forward and report it by contacting the Public Protection Unit on 631499.’
