A 48 year old man from Balluagh has been put behind bars for over two years after being found guilty of indecently assaulting a child.
Donald Andrew Wyatt Warren was employed at a primary school on the island when the offences were committed against a boy who was aged between 6 and 8 years old.
The police officer dealing with the case told us that his previous employment also involved him having access to children and it’s believed that the 48 year old purposely sought to gain employment for himself in positions where he worked in an environment surrounded with kids.
After a lengthy trial he has been sentenced to a total of 26 months imprisonment.
He was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years and a Sexual Offences Prevention Order was granted, also for 10 years.
The order contains a number of restrictions and is designed to reduce the risk of serious sexual harm from Warren towards children.
