Fire crews deal with building site blaze in Castletown

Fire teams use 18000 litres of water to control the blaze

Fire crews were dispatched to a property in Castletown last night to deal with a fire at a building site.

They were called to reports of heavy smoke coming from the site on Scarlett Road, upon arrival at roughly 9.40pm they discovered a well established fire.

The blaze was adjacent too and endangering some machinery.

Officers moved the items to safety and tackled the fire using 18000 litres of water.

The houses in the surrounding area were all instructed to keep their doors and windows closed due to the dense smoke.

The fire teams remained on the scene two hours after the blaze was tackled to ensure it was completely extinguished.
