A woman from Ballasalla has been fined after being found drunk and incapable in the street.
56-year-old Tina Elizabeth Cole, of Foxdale Road, appeared at Douglas Courthouse yesterday where she pleaded guilty to the offence.
Police found Cole on the pavement at Brewery Wharf in Castletown at 6pm on August 17th - when they got to her she couldn’t stand unaided and wasn’t communicating properly.
During her court appearance she also admitted two separate offences of attempting to breach a licensing order that prohibited her from purchasing alcohol.
On September 13th she attempted to buy two bottles of wine from Marks and Spencer - on October 1st she tried to purchase a bottle of wine from the Station Garage in Castletown.
Cole’s advocate said she was ‘truly remorseful’ for her actions explaining that she was now receiving treatment for her alcoholism and was ‘on the right path to recovery’.
Magistrates fined Cole £200 and ordered her to pay prosecution costs of £50.
