Fine for teen who 'doesn't like being told what to do'

Douglas Courthouse

A teenager who "doesn't like being told what to do" has been given one more chance to comply with a court ruling.

18-year-old Joseph Hunter missed numerous appointments with the Probation Service - despite having an order against him requiring him to attend.

The probation order was imposed in July when unemployed Hunter was sentenced for theft offences.

At Douglas Courthouse this week his advocate asked for the order to be continued saying "this is a man who needs a proverbial kick up the backside".

Magistrates agreed but fined him £100 and ordered him to pay £50 in prosecution costs warning him "if you do come back again the next court will not be as lenient".
