People who damaged an electricity substation in Castletown are incredibly lucky they weren’t seriously burnt or even killed.
That’s the message from Manx Utilities which found the damage in the substation behind the Ocean Ford garage which is close to the railway line.
It says people have been in the compound drinking lager and have prised their way into the cable box of the high voltage switchgear.
A temporary repair has now been carried out – however residents in Janet’s Corner will face further disruption when permanent repairs have to be made at a later date.
Anyone who knows who was responsible has been asked to contact Castletown Police Station.
