Election candidate reprimanded over data protection breach

A prospective candidate in this year's general election has been handed a data protection reprimand.

The Information Commissioners Office says the would-be MHK was investigated over a three-pronged data breach.

On its website the regulator says the three infringements involved the lawfulness, fairness and transparency of stored data, as well as its purpose limitation and accountability.

A formal reprimand was issued yesterday.

It comes less than two weeks after ICO Dr Alexandra Delaney-Battacharya issued advice to candidates over data protection: you can read the guidelines here.
