It was revealed in the House of Keys today that the Department of Economic Development are currently formulating a new three year visitor economy strategy.
The news came following a question from MHK Brenda Cannell about strategies to attract more visitors to the Island.
Economic Development Minister John Shimmin outlined that their new strategy is being formulated alongside the Chamber of Commerce.
It's going to put accommodation, hospitality, services and events under the spotlight to see where improvements can be made which will result in improved tourism figures.
The Minister said it is hoped this approach will provide sea and air carriers as well as hoteliers the opportunity to contribute.
It was also revealed that tourism numbers have grown in the past 3 years to most recent levels of 287,200; this resulted in £90 million visitor spend in 2010.
The new 2012 visitor guide has been printed and will be launched next Monday.
