Since halving its workforce and redeploying workers to other Government Department’s it’s been identified that Home Affairs no longer have a designated Drug and Alcohol Strategy team.
The team has in the past been responsible for developing strategies on issues like legal highs and binge drinking and how best to tackle them.
They have also run numerous seminars geared toward educating parents on the perils of drug use, and how best to educate their children about them.
MHK Bill Malarkey is a member of Home Affairs, he says despite the work force reduction the essential strategy will continue by other means.
