A driver who was almost eight times over the legal limit for cannabis was caught out after police noticed a faulty light.
Jamie Tyson Kitching of Close Cowley in Douglas appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 27 year old admitted drug-driving on February 11 on the Old Castletown Road.
Prosecutor Barry Swain told the hearing police stopped the trainee HGV driver at around 10.30pm and he failed a roadside test after officers smelled cannabis.
Blood tests later showed he had 17.5 microgrammes of THC per litre of blood – the legal limit is just two.
Mrs Hughes said sentencing guidelines didn’t yet exist for the new criminal offence, and banned Kitching from the roads for two years.
He was also fined £900 and ordered to pay £125 costs.
