A grandmother from Patrick has been banned from the road after being caught driving her eight-year-old grandson home from school whilst over the limit.
Police stopped 62-year-old Susan Hodge, of Patrick Road, just after 3.30pm on November 23rd after a tip off from someone at his school.
She failed a roadside breath test and was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters where further tests showed she was over the legal limit.
At Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday Hodge admitted the offence.
The court heard she'd consumed leftover alcohol that morning, whilst washing up, and had drunk two glasses of wine at lunch.
Her advocate told the court: "She thought she'd be OK to drive - clearly it just tipped her over the limit."
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes fined Hodge £800 and ordered her to pay costs of £125 - she also disqualified her from driving for one year and until she's taken an extended test.
