A man from the Isle of Wight has been fined £2,000 after being caught drink driving on the day of his father's funeral.
55-year-old Nicolas Paul Parsons, of Freshwater, admitted the offence during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse last week.
Staff at the EVF garage in Ramsey contacted police just after 4pm on November 20th.
They'd become concerned after noticing he smelt of intoxicants and was swaying - when police located Parsons he was staggering, barely able to speak and his eyes were drooping.
Tests showed he was more than three times over the legal drink drive limit.
Parsons' advocate told the court his client's head had been 'all over the place' due to his father's death adding: "He's learnt a very harsh and very valuable lesson to say the least."
Magistrates also banned Parsons from driving for five years and until he's taken and passed an extended driving test and rehabilitation course - he must also pay costs of £125.
