Drink-driver banned from the roads for three years

A drink-driver who crashed and landed her BMW on top of a wall has been banned from the roads for three years.

Shelley Christian Quirk of Bluebell Close in Douglas appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.

The 34 year old admitted driving while over the limit on the New Castletown Road on September 26.

Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the hearing Quirk had been out drinking with friends to celebrate her birthday, but rowed with her husband and decided to drive home instead of staying in a hotel.

At around 4am she lost control of her silver BMW X3 as she turned into Saddle Road and left the road, hitting a stone wall.

A breath test later showed she was two and a half times the legal limit.

Mrs Hughes fined her £1,200, ordered her to pay costs of £125 and banned her from driving for three years.
