The walkway on Douglas Promenade has been closed this morning because of coastal overtopping.
The DOI says the section between the War Memorial and the Sea Terminal will be closed off until at least 2pm this afternoon.
Meanwhile the roads on the stretch are now also shut between Broadway and the Sea Terminal.
A weather warning for overtopping is in place from 10am on Island until 3pm on Saturday (February 13).
