The interval between first and second doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine has been extended to ten weeks.
The move was announced this afternoon and government says it comes after the latest clinical evidence confirms the time between both jabs can be extended beyond the original four-week gap.
The new guidelines will come into effect for anyone who’s either registered with 111 following their invitation letter and those who will be invited in future.
It won’t affect residents who already have a booking for a second Oxford vaccine dose, which will go ahead as normal.
Meanwhile, the dose interval for the Pfizer vaccine will remain at 21 days.
