The Department of Infrastructure has applied for permission to extend the life of a lagoon used for silt from Peel Harbour.
The site at Ballaterson Farm on Glenfaba Road in Peel stores the silt, which can't be dumped at sea because of contamination worries.
In its application, the department says under its new proposals the lagoon and a pipeline along the River Neb would remain in place the end of 2026.
It had originally planned to decommission the lagoon in March this year.
