DOI showed incompetence, bias, dishonesty and turpitude says Tynwald commissioner

Tynwald's Commissioner for Administration says there's evidence of incompetence, bias, lying and morally questionable behaviour at the Department of Infrastructure.

Advocate Paul Beckett investigated after a motorist complained the DOI had impounded their black Honda Civic last June - it was untaxed but parked on private land with permission.

His report, due to be laid before Tynwald at its October sitting, found the department didn't actually know where the car was, procedures to take it away weren't followed, and officers misled the driver when they complained.

He found maladministration both in the way the car was seized and in the way the department had dealt with the ensuing complaint.
