A couple from the Isle of Man has slammed controversial assessments on incapacity benefit claimants saying the process left them "struggling to survive".
Mark and Lisa Bradshaw gave evidence to a Social Affairs Policy Review Committee this week in a bid to highlight their experience with Dependability Limited.
Mark, who suffers from Sudden Death Syndrome, was deemed fit for work after an assessment by the company even though his heart has failed between 45 and 50 times over the last 10 years.
Despite the Job Centre telling him he was "practically unemployable" he had to go for a number of job interviews only to be turned down - something he says left him "going round in circles":
His wife Lisa told the hearing the impact of the decision, which was later overturned at appeal, could have "destroyed" the couple:
Record number of seal pups recorded
Proposed laws could mean free period products
Unemployment fell slightly last month
GP waiting times to be raised in House of Keys tomorrow
Waves higher than predicted on crossing which damaged cars
Spitfire flights to be launched from Ronaldsway
