The Department for Enterprise will have to give a new answer to a Freedom of Information request after an appeal to the Island's information commissioner.
Someone asked the department for Visit Isle of Man's staff and salaries - but was unhappy about unclear pay scales given in the response.
Dr Alexandra Delaney-Bhattacharya said the department hadn't provided a response to all parts of the request.
It will now have to reprocess part of the request.
