Department of Infrastructure concerned at levels of abuse road workers are taking

As a further deterrent the Department will shortly be trialling mobile CCTV cameras at various sites to monitor vehicles through the road works.

The Department of Infrastructure have said they’re concerned a number of workers are being subjected to abuse at several of its current road works on the A5 in Castletown and Victoria Road in Douglas.

The Department recognises that the work itself can be disruptive, however, they say they make every effort to minimise the disruption.

There are currently a number of prosecutions pending following cases where the workers were subjected to verbal abuse and threats, with drivers putting people at risk by ignoring speed restrictions and traffic signals.

If you have a real discrepancy you’re urged to take it straight to the Department and leave the workers alone.

As a further deterrent the Department will shortly be trialling mobile CCTV cameras at various sites to monitor vehicles through the road works.
