58-year-old Anthony Graham Stevenson, of Thornhill Park, admitted driving the vehicle in a dangerous condition during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse on Thursday.
Police stopped Stevenson on Ballanard Road on June 25th after officers spotted issues with the Peugeot van he was driving.
It was taken to the Vehicle Examination Centre where seven defects were identified with the tyres, wing mirrors and lights.
Representing himself in court Stevenson said he was aware the tyres were cracked in places, but thought they were fine, adding that a new wing mirror was on order at the time.
Magistrates ordered him to pay court costs of £50 and endorsed his driving licence with three penalty points.
