The Chief Minister has today unveiled radical proposals set to streamline government.
Under the plans the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure will be disbanded, the Department’s of Health and Social Care will merge, and a new ministerial post willbe created, with responsibility for Policy and Reform.
This would see the Council of Ministers shrink from nine to eight ministers.
The plan aims to cut bureaucracy and make much needed savings, exact figures are yet to be established.
Elsewhere the Manx Electricity Authority will combine with the Water and Sewerage Authority under the Manx Utilities Authority, and there will be the creation of a new Cabinet Office.
The proposals will go before January’s Tynwald, with a view to enforce them on April 1st.
