Police have launched an investigation after significant damage to an area of heath land on top of Beary Mountain in Greeba.
The area, also known as ‘twelve shares’, is private land with no public right of way.
During the last few weeks an excavator has been used to scrape off the surface of the heath without the permission of the landowners.
Police say the extent of the excavation means that the machinery used must have been on site for a considerable amount of time and it would be unusual to see an item like that in that area.
Anyone with information has been asked to contact Peel Police Station.
