Cyclist dies after crash in Peel

A cyclist has died in hospital following a serious car crash just outside Peel this morning. 

The incident happened at around 8.30am on the Poortown Road near the old quarry entrance.

The collision involved a car driven by a local woman and the bicycle ridden by a local man.

The man was taken to hospital but later died as a result of his injuries.

The road between the Highwayman roundabout and Ballig Bridge was closed while investigations took place. 

Police are urging members of the public to refrain from any speculation on social media about the causes of the accident.
