Douglas Borough Council leader David Christian has refuted allegations concerning waste charges made by Infrastructure Minister, David Cretney.
Minister Cretney had this week stated that his Department would consider taking action against local authorities who had increased rates due to the reduction in waste levy subsidy.
The Minister also alleged some authorities had been increasing their rates over and above what was necessary.
Councillor Christian said these claims do not apply to Douglas Council, and Minister Cretney should ‘name and shame’ those that he believes have been exploiting the system:
