There's a chance for Peel to seal its status as the Island's only city next year - as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The UK Cabinet Office says local authorities will be able to apply to become official cities, with towns in the Crown Dependencies able to be considered for the first time.
The Civic Honours competition would see councillors and commissioners making a case to be recognised as a city.
Entries must be made by December 8 this year, and ministers will then make recommendations to the Queen before the winners are announced.
