Manx Utilities Chairman John Wannenbergh says sewage rates are costing people nine times more than they did when they were introduced a decade ago.
In the House of Keys this week, he faced questions from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse about the charges.
He said in 2014, when they were first brought in, sewage rates raised £1.9 million - but this year that's expected to be £17.1 million.
