Concern expressed about proposed mobile phone masts

Some residents in Douglas are expressing concern about plans to house four mobile phone masts in a church bell tower.

An application has been submitted by Cable and Wireless to place them at the All Saints Church on Alexander Drive.

People living in the area have been receiving anonymous notes through their letter boxes which urge them to think about objecting to the application.

The letter points householders in the direction of the Stewart Report, which was a study carried out in the UK to examine whether phone masts pose any health risks.

There are already similar masts operating in lower Douglas.

Paul Hadfield is a mobile engineer for Cable and Wireless.
