More Work Needed to Provide Informal Leisure Areas for Teenagers Says Minister
The Schools will be breaking for their six-week Summer holiday today.
Community, Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney has said there is plenty on offer if you’re child is into sports or organised activities, but he conceded there is more work that needs to be done to cater for the older pupils during the break.
Referring to it as informal leisure Minister Cretney has said he is aware that one of the favourite passtimes of the kids is to enjoy each others company in a relaxed environment, citing the work done at Cafe Laare as a prime example of how this can work successfuly. (audio above).
Meanwhile the Department of Education and Children are reminding people that the grounds of the Island’s 40 primary and secondary schools will remain open for recreational use over the summer.
