Commonwealth Youth Games still need 200 more volunteers

More people needed to put on the Tosha Mascot costume

The Commonwealth Youth Games are now just over two months away, with preparations moving along well.

It will be one of the biggest events staged on the Island in recent memory, and as such it’s requiring hundreds of local volunteers.

So far they have recruited over 600 people but ideally need over 800 to ensure the smooth operation of the games.

More than 1,000 competitors from 71 Commonwealth nations will compete in the seven-day sporting festival.

Victoria Karran is the Volunteer Co-ordinator of the Games, she told us they’re looking for more people to take on the role of official mascot Tosha, minibus drivers and the all important litter pickers.
